Drive is being broadcast from Crown Casino with Dermie, Huddo and Matt Hardy. It is taking the program to the people and giving the show a carnival atmosphere. Tony Jones is covering evenings and we hear Bruce Eva has been handling mid- dawns. 17/08/04 - As tipped here 6 weeks ago former Big Brother 4 house mate Ryan Fitzgerald will be part of the new Nova Adelaide breakfast team. The show is due to hit the airwaves shortly and will be hosted by Crud with Jodie J Hill as Jodie, Jules and Tony. 16/08/04 - Disturbing reports of suggested 'contra' style advertising between a certain radio station and Government body. reports four months after DMG paid $106 million for a new FM radio
licence in Sydney, they have not started researching a name, program
format or positioning for its second Sydney station. If you add the $52
million paid for the Melbourne licence that is a huge amount of money
spent on a gut feeling. Kind of reminds you of the people who go to all
you can eat eateries and fill their plate with stuff they have no idea
where their going to put it. Although there is no doubt Paul Thompson
has an underlying business plan in place, thing is he is not telling the
competition. 16/08/04 - Nostalgia-lovers are invited to attend an old-fashioned radio show next Monday night at the Belvoir Street Theatre, hosted by radio veteran Bob Rogers and actors John Bell and Jacki Weaver. Actors will perform four old popular radio serials - Dad & Dave, Dr Paul, I Hate Crime and Ada & Elsie - on stage, complete with live sound effects and music. Singers will also perform old advertisement jingles and a cappella station announcements. The night is a fundraiser for 2RPH, which has been providing newspaper readings for the visually impaired for 21 years. Tickets ($85, show and supper) are available from the Belvoir box office 9699 3444. sourceSMH 16/08/04 - Former Mix 101.1 staffer Dean Pickering is currently being heard doing traffic for ATN on Magic 693. 16/08/04 - A radio campaign against drink driving has enlisted the support of Australia's Olympic team, including Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett, Libby Lenton and Gian Rooney. Their anti-drink-driving messages will be broadcast on various stations across the nation including Nova, Triple M AND 2DAY networks. Similar messages have been recorded by Eric Bana, Steve Irwin, Naomi Watts, Layne Beachley and Pat Rafter, among others. The idea is that young people are more likely to take notice of people they admire than authority figures. 15/08/04 - Plenty of Sports coverage around the nation with The Olympics now in full swing. In Melbourne one could assume 3AW is the official Olympic station. Ever willing to break into programs with updates and results. Bruce Mansfield even gave updates during the West Coast / Carlton AFL game today. 12/0804 - Industry insiders are totally amazed at the claims surrounding leading up to Radio Ballarat's court conviction. We also believe that this conviction will inhibit the owners of 3BA from purchasing anymore radio licences or networks. 12/08/04 -Expect Nova Adelaide to hit the airwaves in the next 2 to 4 weeks. At this stage nights will be Gemma Clark from Fresh FM. 12/08/04 - DMG has continued its push to be a dominate radio force in Australia by snapping up the 'last ' FM licence to be auctioned. They have paid $52 million dollars to give them a second station in Melbourne and expect to be on air by October 2005 if not before.

No word to what extent they will crank up the format as far as online content yet. 07/08/04 - Derryn Hinch will hold a public rally outside the Victorian Parliment House this Sunday. The protest is aimed to send a message to the DPP against their soft sentencing rules. The rally will be compered by 3AW's Darren James. 05/08/04 - Jacqui Kassulke has been appointed Music Director of Nova 919 in Adelaide. Jacqui was formerly with Austereo. 05/08/04 - TV pioneer, clown and former 3XY presenter Doug McKenzie has passed away of a suspected heart attack. Generations of kids grew up with Doug better known as Zag of Zig and Zag fame. Doug was 87. 05/08/04 - Seems you get can no longer get away with lunching and enjoying the odd ale or 3 on a regular basis and with that we learn that 3MP is in the market for a new Sales Manager. 05/08/04 - One of the original '3AK Good Guys' Bill Howie of MAGIC 693 in Melbourne has certainly been spinning them in with his 60's at 7 he presents each night. at radio Ballarat. 01/08/04 - KROCK 95.5 breakfast rumour number 255 Rumour has it that the new Breakfast anchor at K-Rock in Geelong is Rod Cuddihy from Star FM Dubbo. 01/08/04 - The DMG Northern manager Sean Ryan is the General Manager of the soon to launch Brisbane Nova 106.9. Sean kicks off in the role on the 1st of September. 01/08/04 - KROCK 95.5 breakfast rumour number 254 suggests former Big Brother housemate Paul Dyer could be in the running to join the new breakfast team? 01/08/04 - Austereo staffer Doug Steel has been given his marching orders after one of his gags went over like a lead balloon at a Sydney eatery last week. Steel took patrons quite by surprise lurching into the restaurant screaming into a megaphone lines from a rap song 'Put your hands up' Austereo GM Patrick Joyce contacted everyone at the restaurant during the stunt and offered to pay for their meals.
