Merrick and Rosso

live in Adelaide (from Sydney)

Adelaide radio listeners today got a taste of what to expect from the city’s newest FM radio station NOVA 919.  Lots of mucking around!

Breakfast radio lightweights, Merrick and Rosso, were heard on NOVA 919 for the first time this morning.  The show is being broadcast on NOVA 919 from Nova’s sister station in Sydney. It will remain on the air in breakfast for the immediate future while the radio station is being built and we employ a full team prior to the official launch later in the year.

The show is the Sydney show – Sydney weather, Sydney traffic, Sydney news – even references to NOVA 969, the frequency of Nova in Sydney.

“We’re basically just mucking around and having a bit of fun”, Sam Thompson, Group Promotions and Marketing Director for dmg Radio Australia said. “Merrick and Rosso love Adelaide – and they thought it was better to have them on than 3 hours of silence!”.

Merrick Watts added, “We really thought that silence had the edge on us for a while but our pitch, called ‘Merrick and Rosso – Better Than Nothing’ really struck a chord and convinced the team at NOVA 919 that we could really give silence a run for its money.”

His partner, Tim Ross elected to hedge his bets and remained silent on the matter.

Merrick and Rosso are no strangers to Adelaide having performed many successful stand-up tours in the city and their weekly television show “Merrick and Rosso Unplanned” is seen on Channel Nine on Wednesday nights.

After 9am, NOVA 919 will count down 10,490 songs in a row (basically non-stop music between 9:00am and 6:00am and right across Easter).
