A Melbourne suburban community radio station has taken out a prestigious Internet website award.

3WBC, which broadcasts to the inner eastern suburbs of Melbourne from its studios in Burwood East, has been awarded the prize as part of the “2003-2004 Golden Web Awards”.

The Golden Web Awards, presented by the highly respected International Association of Web Masters & Designers, are given to websites deemed to have meet a high standard of design and development.

3WBC Website Co-ordinator, Daniel Anderson, said he was extremely proud to win the award.

“This is the second award we have won in 12 months.  The first award was voted by our visitors, but this award is voted for by professionals.  It’s an honour for us to win this, considering how the site looked when we started”.

As a result of the award, Mr Anderson has been invited to join the International Association of Web Masters & Designers.

“For someone who doesn’t do this (web design) for a living, it’s certainly a great achievement,” Mr Anderson said.

“At the end of the day, it makes it all worth it,” Mr Anderson.
